My Bio
Printmaking allows me to juxtapose transient and repeatable. Within these works, I explored the possibilities of the bold woodcut line and the fluidity of monoprinting. The marks discovered stand alone, telling their own story. Perhaps by retelling the sagas, I have been telling my own: the transformation of creation.
I love to tell stories, blending elements together to create a synthesis, particularly about mythology. I have created many scenes from Greek mythology, but because I am Norwegian, I am also exploring fairytales and myths from my heritage, and then creating new visual stories. I imagine what a character might do in a particular situation and what that would look like.
I have been experimenting with monoprints over the past year, figuring out how to best blend color and tone to create the best effects juxtaposed to the boldness of the relief line. I primarily make relief prints and monotypes because of their accessibility, as i work from my own studio.

:skull: i HATE framing.  it is a boring, time-consuming process where too many things can go wrong all at once.  i wish it wasn't necessary to frame your prints before hanging them.  by the way, i am framing my prints for a show at adelle's coffeehouse in dover, nh, during the month of december. on the bright side, i constructed a press bed for screen printing and pulled my first proofs yesterday.  so there will be screen prints in my gallery soon.  :headbang: so stay tuned!

which is what i say when i am printing these days.  every time i put a block on my book press and press the paper to the ink, i say "smunch", basically because that's what it sounds like.  i think it's ironic that i have a book press i can't lift by myself; ergo one of my favorite possessions depends on me being nice to people so that they will move it for me if i need it.  "i am a leech.  i need your muscles."  at least, if you can spare some.  i think i should incorporate lifting my book press into my exercise regimen, so that one day i can lift it myself.  here's to building up the weakling.

i bought an antique book press today.  i just had to.  if you're a printmaker, you'd get it.  so i spent the afternoon cleaning it and thinking of a name.  the american french press i used in school is named fifi, so i thought i would name it something bookish.  although i think i should name it after the muse of art.  i can't wait until tomorrow when i can use it!
