Printmaking allows me to juxtapose transient and repeatable. Within these works, I explored the possibilities of the bold woodcut line and the fluidity of monoprinting. The marks discovered stand alone, telling their own story. Perhaps by retelling the sagas, I have been telling my own: the transformation of creation.
I love to tell stories, blending elements together to create a synthesis, particularly about mythology. I have created many scenes from Greek mythology, but because I am Norwegian, I am also exploring fairytales and myths from my heritage, and then creating new visual stories. I imagine what a character might do in a particular situation and what that would look like.
I have been experimenting with monoprints over the past year, figuring out how to best blend color and tone to create the best effects juxtaposed to the boldness of the relief line. I primarily make relief prints and monotypes because of their accessibility, as i work from my own studio.
